So, unfortunately TreeFolks wasn’t able to secure funding for the Ready Set Plant event this spring. We’re now looking at next fall (between November 2023 and February 2024) but I do hear there is a sponsor interested so hopefully that works out with no more delays.
More importantly for now, Keep Austin Beautiful Day is coming up on April 15, 2023! With everything growing in quickly now after the winter, I’m thinking we can use that day to get to work! I’d like to start to rip out the invasive Johnsongrass (and the not-invasive-but-overly-opportunistic ragweed) and plant a native seed mix in its place. This activity would occur in the same area proposed for the Ready Set Plant event, the trails behind Kilmartin Ln.
Once the city approves my application for the event I’ll start getting a registration list together for volunteers (and uh, blast the entire existence of this site around the neighborhood a bit more – I’d held off while activities were all still pending). Stay tuned!
