Eradicating Invasive “Bastard Cabbage”

I spent this past weekend in the trails, yanking out the invasive bastard cabbage that has been slowly but surely colonizing the area. I went out both Saturday and Sunday and made some good headway, but there is a lot more to be done still to get rid of the stuff for good.

The worst part about it is it’s growing over and shading out the trees we just planted at the Ready Set Plant event in the fall. Grr. >:(

I will go back out again this upcoming weekend, probably Saturday morning (March 9), and will send out a mailer letting anyone else know who may want to join in on the fun.

I still have some leftover native seed from last year, so after we yank out what we can, we can throw that down and try to establish more natives in its place.

Keep an eye out for an email!
